A three-day meeting has been held for all Units, Departments and sub-BMCs of the Hospital to present their draft Programme of Work (POW) for the year 2017.
This is in line with the Strategic Outcome Framework (SOF) instituted by Management of the Hospital.
The three-day event saw staff from the various UDSs coming together to dialogue on what they will be doing for the year 2017. Representatives from each department and Sub-BMC took turns to present their draft POW. The presentations were action based which identified objectives in order to achieve the goals that were set.
In an interview with the Head of Policy, Planning, Monitoring and Evaluation (PPME) Mr. Alhassan Munir explained that, because of the independent nature of work at the hospital, there was the need for the discussions with all the departments so as to develop one POW for the Hospital which will address our needs.
Comparing 2015 POW review to this year, Mr. Alhassan said “the programme has been successful in terms of knowledge and skills and discussions was done in a friendly environment.”
Sampling the views of some of the participants, they said that listening to the presentations had been insightful, ideas shared and the meeting had brought about a sense of togetherness.
Some participants were delighted that the event offered the opportunity to learn more about the other departments, units and Sub-BMCs.
Other participants, however, were of the view that some questions asked drifted the discussions away from the purpose of the meetings and some presenters also could not communicate well. They urged the PPME Unit to take note of this so that presenters will prepare adequately next time.
The SOF is a three year plan which looks at how the POW will improve work at the hospital. It is also to identify lapses in the Hospital’s operations and work on them.
