Welcome to Our Pharmacy

The Pharmacy Directorate of the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital is dedicated to delivering expert pharmaceutical care that enhances patient outcomes. With a strong focus on innovation and personalized services, the pharmacy ensures safe and effective medication use. Additionally, it plays a key role in training healthcare professionals and conducting operational research to advance pharmacy practice.


Core Functions and Services

The Pharmacy ensures the availability, affordability, and accessibility of high-quality, effective medicines to meet patient needs. It provides timely and accurate information on medications and pharmacy practice. We also deliver clinical pharmacy services such as patient counseling and ward support and engage in small-scale manufacturing and compounding of essential medicines. The Pharmacy also enhances staff competencies through training, short courses, and seminars while offering teaching and training facilities for health institutions, pharmacy schools, and regulatory bodies. Additionally, it conducts patient-centered operational research to advance pharmacy practice and improve healthcare outcomes.

  • National Reconstructive Plastic Surgery and Burns Centre
  • National Centre for Clinical Genetics (Sickle Cell Clinic)
  • Infectious Disease Centre

  • A 24-hour Operational Pharmacy
  • Adherence Counseling Unit
  • Pharmacy Accounts Unit

Training and Education

The Pharmacy collaborates with local and international institutions to enhance training and research. We have agreements with KNUST, UG, UCC, CUC, Entrance University, and Howard University to support student training and development. In research, we partner with the Commonwealth Partnership on Antimicrobial Stewardship (CwPAMS) to conduct surveys on antimicrobial stewardship within the institution.


Our Team and Leadership

The Pharmacy is led by Dr. Charles Nii Kwadee Ofei-Palm and supported by two Deputy Directors. They are supported in the discharge of their duties by a team of versatile and well-trained pharmacists spread across the Hospital.
