Dr Daniel Ankrah is the new Director of Pharmacy. His appointment took effect from April 2.
The new Director is a practicing pharmacist from the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST). He is an alumnus of the London School of Hygiene and Tropical Medicine in the United Kingdom and the Utrecht University in the Netherlands where he obtained an MSc in Epidemiology and a PHD, respectively. He completed his postdoctoral training at the Ohio State University in the USA. The new Director also holds a Postgraduate Certificate in Public Administration from GIMPA.
Dr Ankrah is a Fellow of the Ghana College of Pharmacy, a fellow of the royal Society of Public Health, a member of the Pharmaceutical Society of Ghana (PSGH); International Society of Pharmacoepidemiology (ISPE) and also a member of the International Society of Pharmacoeconomics and Outcomes Research (ISPOR).
He delights in producing safer medicines for the Hospital and is interested in patient-centered pharmacy practice and research ethics.
The new Director started working at the Pharmacy Department as an intern pharmacist in 1991 and has since remained faithful to the Hospital. Coming this far, he has served on various Committees in the Hospital. He is a Public Health Pharmacy Consultant.
