The Hospital has opened a new laboratory with modern analyser to attend to investigations needed for patient care.
The analyser, Mindray SAL 6000 is digital and equipped to undertake general chemistry, special proteins, cardiac and lipid panel, diabetes panel and aneamia panel investigations. The analyser can also investigate thyroid and infectious diseases.
With its state-of-the-art functions, the machine can attend to 400 laboratory investigations at a time and produce their reports within an hour. The machine has been installed in partnership with Mindray, Shenzeng, the manufacturers of the analyser.
Addressing the media at a seminar and tour of the facility, the Chief Executive of the Hospital, Dr. Daniel Asare said he had been worried about the situation whereby patients have to go outside the Hospital for laboratory investigations.
He said with the installation of the Mindray SAL 6000, it was a new dawn for the Hospital and patients. “The Hospital will become a one-stop-shop and patients and their relatives will no longer have to be roaming about looking for a place to do labs”, he added.
He noted that the manufacturers of the analyser have a good reputation and he was confident that they will provide quality care for patients who come for the service.
Wang Lei, an official from Mindray, noted that they had successfully installed the Mindray SAL 6000 at some hospitals in Kenya, US, China, among others.
He said these places were happy with the services of the analyser and he was hopeful that Korle Bu will benefit greatly from the Mindray SAL 6000.
