MINISTER OF HEALTH JOINS KORLE BU”S 2022 PERFORMANCE REVIEW.

The Ministry of Health is engaging the World Bank to a carry out a feasibility study on how to improve the ambience, infrastructure and equipment of the Hospital to enable Korle Bu maintains its place as one of the leading health care facilities within the sub-region.

The Minister said the construction of the Urology and Nephrology Centre of Excellence as well as the 13-storey Maternity Block, among others, will fit into the plan to enhance the ambience and put Korle Bu on a footing to meet the emerging competition.

The Minister of Health, Honourable Kwaku Agyeman-Manu disclosed this when he joined Management and staff at this year’s Annual Performance Review.

The Minister encouraged all staff to work hard to maintain Korle Bu’s enviable position as a quaternary care centre.

Honourable Agyeman Manu noted that no other Hospital in the country could boast of the skilled professionals nor the life-saving services Korle Bu provides, adding, ‘Korle Bu still reigns’ .

He noted that the Hospital needed to do more to increase its revenue and he urged Management and staff to work together to achieve this.

The Minister also congratulated and encouraged Management and staff to maintain the peaceful atmosphere in Korle Bu for some time now.

The Hospital’s Chief Executive, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, in his response was very grateful to the Minister for joining the Hospital for its performance review.

He assured the Minister that the Hospital was committed to providing quality care to its clients, collaborating with sister hospitals and other agencies such as the Ghana Health Service for seamless care delivery, skills transfer and improving data quality.

He added that Korle Bu’s data quality had improved within the last one and a half year from 18% to over 50% currently.

He was hopeful this will be further enhanced in the coming years for the benefit of the service delivery and stakeholders.

Other dignitaries who joined the Minister of Health were the Director of the Ghana Health Service, Dr. Patrick Kuma-Aboagye, the Chief Director of the Ministry, Mrs Emmanuel Ofori Agyeman, the Director of Infrastructure, Mr. Ben Nkansah and representatives from the Komfo Anokye Teaching Hospital.

The two-day review is under the theme: Effective Planning, Implementation and Information Management for better Health Outcome.
