Korle Bu gains accreditation to begin emergency medicine residency training
The Anaesthesia Department yesterday received an Accreditation Team from the West African College of Physicians and Surgeons and Ghana College of Physicians and Surgeons.
The Team was taken round various sections of the Department such as the anaesthesia recovery wards, the Pain Clinic and some theatres to assess the facilities and equipment available.
The Head of the Aneasthesia Department, Dr. Andrews Kwabena Adade and his Management members led the Accreditation team to the various areas, including paying a courtesy call on the Chief Executive Officer and Directors of Korle Bu.
The exercise was to enable the Department and the Hospital, as a whole, continue to operate as a teaching hospital and a centre for training of high quality Physicians in Anaesthesia, Pain and Critical Care.
At the end of the exercise, the Team seemed impressed with the work of consultants and doctors at the department.
A professor on the team from Ghana College in his remarks to the Anaesthesia Team was happy with the joint accreditation exercise and lauded the idea.
He concluded by saying this would save time and money
