GIPC CEOs Breakfast Meeting

The Hospital’s Chief Executive Officer (CEO), Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, joined other CEOs from both public and private sectors at a round table breakfast meeting organised by the Ghana Investment Promotion Centre (GIPC) to identify gaps and opportunities for investment in Ghana’s healthcare sector.

The meeting, which was chaired by Mr. Yoofi Grant, CEO of GIPC focused on honest discussions and participants shared ideas on how to enhance Ghana’s health system.

Addressing the group on a presentation titled “Medical Tourism in Ghana”, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah highlighted the need to ramp up strategic investments in healthcare, specifically in the area of healthcare service delivery including medicines, diagnostics, sub-specialty care, research, training and other ancillary areas such as accommodation, transport and medical concierge services.

Expounding Ghana’s strengths, weaknesses, opportunities and threats towards the country’s positioning as a medical tourism hub, he encouraged all sectors and stakeholders along the value chain to play an active role; from acquisition of medical visas through immigration, transport/shuttle services, hotels, catering ,tourism , security, finance to the actual medical services.

Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah emphasised that the key success factor to get better outcomes and delight clients who seek care in Ghana was to ensure provision of high quality, coordinated and integrated care.
