The National Institute for Health and Care Research (NIHR) Global Health Research Group on Collaborative Care for Cardiometabolic Diseases (CREATE) was successively launched in Accra on Tuesday, January 17, 2023.Following the launch, the CREATE team met with the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of the Hospital, Dr. Opoku Ware Ampomah, yesterday, as part of their tour of the facility. Speaking at the launch of the CREATE Project on Tuesday, the Dr. Ampomah expressed delight at the partnership and remarked that he had keenly followed the project from its inception.He was particularly excited that the project brought together the necessary pillars within the health sector and the community to deliberate on how to improve care for people living with multiple long-term conditions. He pledged to keenly follow the progress of the project.The CREATE Project aims to develop and test a care model to improve self-management among patients with cardiometabolic diseases such as diabetes, hypertension and heart disease. The CREATE team brought together healthcare experts from Ghana, Kenya and Mozambique who are passionate about strengthening the continent’s healthcare system in the area of integrated care for chronic conditions. The Team toured some parts of the Hospital and the Department of Family Medicine/Polyclinic has been selected to be one of the study sites for a feasibility trial testing an education intervention.Following ethical approval, participants for the study will be recruited from all departments of KBTH, including the Family Medicine/Polyclinic department.#kbth #excellenceinhealthcare #NIHR
