LOC for 13th All African Games Meets Korle Bu Management.

A team from the Local Organising Committee (LOC) for the 13th All African Games to be held in Accra, 2023, last week met Management.

The team, who are members of the Medical and Anti-doping Sub-Committee of the LOC met Management to introduce, familiarize themselves with Korle Bu and also seek areas of mutual collaboration.

Welcoming the Team, the Acting Chief Executive Officer, Dr. Daniel Ankrah, was happy for their visit to the Hospital.

He noted that Korle Bu had the skill and personnel to attend to the medical needs of the LOC.

He assured them of the Hospital’s readiness to do all it takes, within our operation to ensure the successful rollout of the games.

He however urged the Team to have activites they would wishthe hospital to partner or support.

Dr Ankrah thanked the LOC team for selecting the Hospital and assured that the medical team would execute their duties with utmost professionalism.

The Deputy Director of Medical Affairs, Dr. Harry Akoto informed the Team in relation to next year’s All African Games, they were likely to deal largely with emergencies and trauma cases.

He noted that Korle Bu had been successfully partnering such activities in the country.

He pointed out some fundamental questions that the medical team needed to prepare for in their plan such as; in the event that someone gets hurt, what will be the arrangement on the ground? Will Korle Bu always have a team on standby? What will be the coordination with ER?, among others.

The Chairperson of the Medical and Anti-doping Sub-Committe, Dr. Abena Agyeman in her address said Ghana will be hosting the 13th All African games and Korle Bu as the premier hospital had been identified as one of the health facilities to attend to medical emergencies and other supportive services for athletes, officials and spectators in the course of the games.

She thanked the Hospital for the warm reception and positive discussions, which, she was hopeful of good results.

She assured Management that issues identified would be attended to immediately to speed up work towards the games.

The members of the Medical and Anti-doping Sub-Committee were met by the Ag CEO, Dr. Daniel Ankrah; the Deputy Director of Medical Affairs, Dr Harry Akoto; the Director of Nursing Services, Mrs Rita Aryee and Ms Josephine Mante of the Public Relations Unit.
